Women’s rights activist arrested in Marivan

Parvin Edavei, a women’s rights activist in Marivan, was arrested by security forces and transferred to an unknown location on Monday.

News Center- Parvin Edavei, a women’s rights activist, was arrested by Iranian security forces in Marivan, a city in Rojhelat Kurdistan, on Monday morning, the Hana Human Rights Organization reported.

Parvin Edavei had previously been arrested by Iranian security forces in August 2019 and released on a bail of 500 million tomans after three months in detention.

She was then sentenced to five years in prison on charges of “Membership in one of the Kurdish opposition parties against the regime.” Her prison sentence was later reduced to  one year.

On January 30, 2020, she was arrested to serve her prison sentence. On April 7, 2020, she was granted amnesty and released from prison.
