Makhmur - The women living in the Makhmur refugee held a march over the call of the Ishtar Women's Council to support the protests that began in Iran and Rojhelat Kurdistan following the killing of Jina Mahsa Amini. Holding the photos of Jina Mahsa Amini, the women began to march from the building of the Martyrs' Families Foundation and ended the march in front of the UN office.
“The reason is not hijab but the male-dominant system”
After the march, a statement was read by Berivan Demir. Stating that women all around the world support the women in Rojhelat Kurdistan against the male-dominant system, Berivan Demir said, “Women rise up to demand their rights. If we do not unite today, our sisters in Rojhelat will be killed every day. The reason is not hijab but the ignorance of the male dominant system. Society can be liberated without women’s liberation. The male-dominant system wants women to bow down by leaving them without their will. We, as the women of Makhmur, support the ongoing protests in Rojhelat Kurdistan and Iran. And we say that we stand with them.”
“We condemn the regime that killed Jina Amini”
After the statement, Gurbet işlek, a coordinating member of Makhmur Ishtar Women’s Council, made a speech. “We condemn the regime that killed Jina Amini. Jina Amini is the symbol of the resistance in Rojhelat Kurdistan. The people no longer accept the regime imposing pressure in the name of Islam. Every day, many people are killed and executed in the name Islam. The Iranian regime continues to carry out its inhuman practices against Kurdish women and youth. The attack on Jina Mahsa is an attack against all women. As Kurdish women, we should support the women in Iran.”
