Hasakah- People from different ethnic and religious groups in northeastern Syria always express their support to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), emphasizing that the SDF ensures security, justice and equality in the region.

 

“The SDF is a military alliance of all people from different ethnic and religious groups in North and East Syria, aiming at ending genocidal attacks against people” said Arev Qasebiyan, member of the Armenian Social Council in Hasakah. “People from different ethnic and religious groups have been subjected to genocidal attacks for years. The SDF is a role model for the world with its ideology. When we talk about the SDF, we actually talk about the existence of the people in North and East Syria. It is time to stop genocidal attacks and protect the existence of all people from different identities. If the SDF did not exist, we would be subjected to genocidal attacks as Syria’s coastal areas and Sweida city have faced. We cannot live without the SDF because we know very well that they will face genocidal attacks without the SDF. We want the SDF to control the territory of Syria. We condemn the attacks on the Alawite and the Druze communities. Everyone deserves to have freedom in Syria. The SDF guarantees the freedom of people. We should support the SDF to have a life with dignity.”

‘Those who forcibly displaced us now lead the interim government in Damascus’

Aziza Hesen, who was forcibly displaced from Manbij by the attacks of the Turkish state and Turkish-backed factions, told us that they also trust the SDF, not other forces because “the SDF protects all people from different ethnic and religious groups. Those who forcibly displaced us from our homeland, attacked by using heavy weapons now lead the interim government. How can we trust HTS! HTS has killed the Alawites in Syria’s coastal areas and Sweida city, instead of ensuring security for the return of displaced people. The SDF fights terrorists and protects the communities in northeastern Syria.”

 ‘The YPJ protects women’

The YPJ protects women against all kinds of attacks, Aziza Hesen emphasized. “The YPJ plays an important role in northeastern Syria. Without the YPJ, women will face oppression, violations and all kinds of violence. HTS excludes women from all facets of life, attacking civilians in the coastal areas and Sweida. We believe that the SDF and YPJ have the power to build a democratic Syria.”

‘The SDF has the power to defend all people in Syria’

Xilûd Xelef, an Arab woman living in Hasakah, thinks that the SDF has the power to defend and protect all people in Syria. People from different identities, including Armenian, Syriac and Yazidi people, support the SDF to defend their dignity and identity. We condemn any attack targeting the SDF. We believe that the SDF will ensure security and stability for all people in Syria.”
