Hasakah- The Hasakah Action Committee has set up a tent in the Ethro area of Hasakah’s Nasra neighborhood to protest the use of chemical weapons against the People's Defense Forces (HPG) guerrillas in the Kurdistan Region by Turkey with the support of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).
Last evening, the members of the Young Women’s Union in Hasakah Canton and the Revolutionary Youth Movement supported the tent protest by holding torches and chanting slogans.
“The Democratic project is targeted”
Mîdiya Ebid El-Rehman, member of the Young Women’s Union in Hasakah Canton, emphasized that Turkey has used chemical weapons many times. “We strongly condemn these inhuman attacks on the guerrillas. We are the guerrillas so the attacks on the guerrillas are the attacks on the will of people and their existence. Everyone has already seen how the guerrillas fight to liberate the people. They fought for the liberation of Yazidi people. The Turkish state aims to invade North and East Syria by attacking the guerrillas. Our democratic project is targeted by the Turkish state.”
“The silence of the international community shows their deal”
Criticizing the silence of the international community against Turkey’s use of chemical weapons, Mîdiya Ebid El-Rehman said that the silence of the international community shows that they have a deal with the Turkish state. “The international community should be determined to reveal this crime and punish those responsible for this crime. We see the silence of the international community as a great sin against humanity,” she told us.
“The authorities in the Kurdistan Region should react to this crime”
Hêvî Mihmed, member of the Young Women’s Union in Hasakah Canton, told us that they will keep taking to the streets to support the guerilla forces. “The guerrillas are our honor. Now is the time for resistance and freedom. People living in four parts of Kurdistan should rise up and raise their voices against these inhuman practices. We call on the authorities in the Kurdistan Region not to allow Turkey to achieve its goals. The authorities must react to the Turkish attacks in order to prevent more massacres from being committed. If they remain silent against the use of chemical weapons,
many massacres like the Halabja Massacre will be committed.”
