Women march in Istanbul against war, massacre, genocide
The Women are Stronger Together platform held a march in Istanbul to protest Israel’s attacks on Palestine.
News Center- Over the call of the Women are Stronger Together Platform, many women gathered in front of the building of the Israel Consulate General in Istanbul’s Beşiktaş district last night to protest Israel’s attacks on Palestine.
Holding a march, the women carried banners reading, “We stand with Palestinians”, “Palestinian women are not alone”, “The people of Rojava are not alone”, “Women’s solidarity will exceed borders”, “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi (Women, Life, Freedom)” and “People resist from Rojava to Gaza”.
After the march, the women read a statement. The statement was read by Selin Top on behalf of the women.
‘Women try to keep more than a million children alive’
Pointing to 12-day Israel’s attacks on Palestine, killing thousands, the statement said, “Women have been trying to keep more than a million children alive. The evacuation routes have been targeted by Israel’s airstrikes.”The statement also mentioned the Israeli airstrikes that targeted Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza and killed more than 471 people.
‘We have no tolerance for the hypocrisy’
“We know how states applaud when hospitals and schools are bombed from Rojava,” the statement said:
“Some states are always victims although they kill people. Palestinians and Kurds are always guilty even if they are killed in the bombardments on hospitals. Yesterday, those who claim that they are against occupation extended the mandate that allows Turkiye to launch cross-border operations in Syria and Iraq for another two years. We have no tolerance for the hypocrisy of those who say no to the war in Palestine while saying yes to the war in Rojava and Karabakh.”
‘We stand with the Palestinian women’
Highlighting that most of the killed people in Palestine are women and children, the statement added, “As women, we stand with the Palestinian people and Palestinian women. Türkiye must stop its commercial relations with Israel now. The siege imposed on Gaza must be lifted now.”
