RONÎDA HACÎ

Hasakah — The city of Hasakah, like the rest of Syria, is going through a sensitive period. In this city, part of the Cizîr canton of North and East Syria, efforts are being made to incite sectarian war among the region’s components. Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan sent a letter to the Arab tribes in Syria to stop this possible war and to establish peace.

Abdullah Öcalan’s letter included the following expressions: “We have formed perspectives based on brotherhood and the democratic nation. All people must be equal, free, live together and govern themselves. Equality and justice must be built on this foundation. Kurds and Arabs should live together. This also depends on your support for the DSG. Your support for the DSG carries great importance and meaning.”

In a message sent to Arab tribal leaders in the Cizîr, Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa and Tabqa regions, Abdullah Öcalan said, “I am a supporter of the brotherhood and solidarity of the Kurdish and Arab peoples, which is based on historical foundations.”

Women from Arab tribes living in Washokani Camp in the city of Hasakah told our agency that the letter was received with great interest and stated that they will struggle for the solidarity of the Syrian people.

“We demand Leader Apo’s physical freedom”

Zakiya Khidir, from an Arab tribe, emphasized the importance of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan’s message, saying, “Leader Öcalan’s letter is intended to strengthen living together and social peace. Before the Rojava Revolution, the Baath regime tried to start a war between Kurds and Arabs, but it did not succeed. Because we live as components of Syria in peace and brotherhood. There are still attempts to start a sectarian war. Leader Öcalan called for unity and living together in his letter. We welcome this call with a big heart and we demand Leader Apo’s physical freedom.”

Recalling that in the time of the Prophet Muhammad the people of Medina called for equality, justice, and respect for religions and sects, Zakiya Khidir noted that today Abdullah Öcalan seeks to revive this call to prevent war and bloodshed.

“We want to meet with Abdullah Öcalan”

Beshira Silman, from an Arab tribe, also stated that their primary demand is to meet with Abdullah Öcalan.

Beshira Silman said, “Syria is the common homeland of all peoples: Kurds, Arabs, Assyrians, Armenians and all religions and sects. We say enough to suffering, displacement, occupation and genocide. With Leader Öcalan’s call we will strive for a better and richer Syria. A Syria that everyone loves, protects and is united in. This letter came at the right time, we thank him and we want to see him.”

Beshira Silman emphasized that the Syrian Democratic Forces are the most inclusive and protective force for Syria, saying, “The SDG is the only force that protects all elements of Syria from genocide.”

Support for the Democratic Nation project

Melek Salih stated that a special war is being waged against the Democratic Nation project, saying, “The situation in Syria, especially in North and East Syria, is very sensitive. We see threats of civil war and conflict on digital media. However, our regions are uniting and organizing around the Democratic Nation project. This project protects all components from genocide, injustice and oppression. Special war wants to destroy this project, but we see that the project is succeeding.”

Melek Salih also touched on what Abdullah Öcalan’s message means to them and concluded her remarks as follows: “Leader Öcalan’s message affected us deeply. We will organize around the Democratic Nation project and support the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDG).”
