Two films by Arab women directors shortlisted for 96th Academy Awards
“The Mother of All Lies” directed by Moroccan film director Asmae El Moudir and “Four Daughters” directed by Tunisian film director Kaouther Ben Hania have been shortlisted for the 96th Academy Awards, commonly known as the Oscars.
News Center- The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the shortlists for the 96th Oscars in 10 categories: Documentary Feature Film, Documentary Short Film, International Feature Film, Makeup and Hairstyling, Music (Original Score), Music (Original Song), Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film, Sound, and Visual Effects.
“The Mother of All Lies” directed by Moroccan film director Asmae El Mourdir has been shortlisted in the International Feature category. “Four Daughters” directed by Tunisian film director Kaouther Ben Hania has been shortlisted in Documentary Feature and Documentary Feature categories.
“Tunisia is on the final list of Oscars not in one, but in two categories,” wrote Tunisan director Kaouther Ben Hanian on her social media account.
The nominations for the 96th Oscars will be announced on January 23, 2024. The Oscars ceremony will be held on March 10, 2024 at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood and will be televised live on ABC and in more than 200 territories worldwide.
