News Center_Activists and human rights defenders in Iran are facing an escalating wave of arbitrary arrests and enforced disappearances, amid international reports warning of deteriorating humanitarian conditions and security pressures targeting the families of detainees.

The Free Women’s System in Eastern Kurdistan (KJAR) announced the arrest of two of its members in the Iranian city of Urmia by security forces and their being taken to an unknown location, with no information available about their fate for nearly three months.

According to the organization’s statement, the two activists_Zahra Pirdehghan, 32, from Chaldiran, known as “Dijla Mako,” and Parvin Rasgh Qezeblash, 32, from Mako, known as “Adar Mako” _ disappeared last July days apart while they were in Urmia conducting civic and awareness-raising activities related to women.

The statement explained that investigations confirmed the security apparatus's responsibility for their detention, noting that the authorities refuse to provide any clarifications to the families of the two detainees and are exerting pressure on them to prevent them from taking any legal or civil measures.

The organization held the Iranian authorities fully responsible for the safety and lives of the two activists, demanding the immediate disclosure of their place of detention. It also called on international human rights institutions and organizations defending women's rights to intervene and investigate the enforced disappearance to ascertain their legal and health status.
