Turkish court fines journalist Reyhan Çapan

Reyhan Çapan, the former managing editor of Özgür Gündem , has been fined 41,666 Turkish liras (about $2,196) for allegedly “failing to publish reply and correction in a proper way”.

Istanbul- The 3rd hearing of the retrial of Rayhan Çapan, former managing editor of Özgür Gündem daily, over the charges of “failing to publish reply and correction in a proper way” was held by the Istanbul 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance. While journalist Reyhan Çapan did not attend the hearing, her lawyer Özcan Kılıç was present at the hearing.

Her lawyer Özcan Kılıç stated that his client had not committed any crime and demanded the acquittal of Reyhan Çapan.

Journalist Reyhan Çapan has been fined 41,666 Turkish liras (about $2,196) for allegedly “failing to publish reply and correction in a proper way”.
