Turkey: 112 detained in three days
Since an attack took place in front of the General Directorate of Security in Ankara on September 1, 112 people from different cities have been detained.
News Center- Since the attack that took place in front of the General Directorate of Security of Turkey’s Ministry of the Interior on September 1, 2023, the detention operation launched against people, including politicians and members of NGOs has continued.
20 detained people held in Istanbul Police Department
On October 2, at least 20 people, including the members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and the Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK), were detained in Istanbul and Kırklareli. The detained people have been held at the Istanbul Police Department.
Detention operation in 16 cities
Yesterday, Turkey’s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that 55 people have been detained in 16 cities. He also said that the operation was conducted in Urfa, Mardin, Diyarbakır, Antep, Mersin, Şırnak, Istanbul, Bursa, Batman, Denizli, Adana, Kayseri, Antalya, Konya, Isparta and Kocaeli. According to the received reports, most of the detained people are refugees.
37 people detained today
Today, Ali Yerlikaya announced that 37 people have been detained in Istanbul, Van, Urfa, Elazığ, Düzce, Amed, Bursa, Edirne, Kırklareli, Kilis, Iğdır, Hatay, Adana, Maraş and Denizli. According to the received report, many Syrian refugees have been detained in Edirne. Today, Özgür Cihangir has been detained on charges of “propagandizing for a terrorist organization” for his social media posts. The number of people, who have been detained since the attack in Ankara, has risen to 112.
