Trial begins for Iranian journalists arrested for reporting on murder of Jina Mahsa Amini

The trial for Iranian journalists Elaheh Mohammadi and Niloofar Hamed, who reported on the murder of Jina Mahsa Amini in custody, was held after spending eight months in prison, has begun.

News Center- The trial has begun for Iranian journalist Niloofar Hamed, who was arrested on September 21, 2022 for reporting the murder of Jina Mahsa Amini by Iran's so-called “morality police” on September 16, 2022, and journalist Elaheh Mohammadi, who was arrested on September 29, 2022 for reporting about the police attack at the funeral of Jina Mahsa Amini in Saqqez.

 On Monday, Elaheh Mohammadi stood trial after being held in prison for eight months. The first trial session was held by the Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court. While Elaheh Mohammadis lawyer, Shahab Mirlohi, described the session as "good and positive", she said the next session would be confirmed later.

 Niloofar Hamed to stand trial today

 The Shargh newspaper reported that the first session for Niloofar Hamed would be held today by the Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran.

Yesterday, journalist Mina Akbari tweeted that many journalists, activists and the family of Elaheh Mohammadi gathered in front of the court before the session.”
