Three Iranian journalists summoned to testify
Saeeda Shafiei, Mehrnoush Zarei Hanzaki and Nasim Sultan Beygi, three women journalists based in Tehran, have been summoned to testify by the Evin Prosecutor's Office.
News Center- The protests that sparked in Iran and Rojhilat following the killing of Jina Mahsa Amini on September 16, 2022 in police custody have continued in its eighth month. Iranian regime forces have kidnapped, arrested and killed many human rights defenders, students and women to quell the protests. In January 2023, three women journalists named Saeeda Shafiei, Mehrnoush Zarei Hanzaki and Nasim Sultan Beygi were arrested on charges of “propagandizing against the regime” for supporting the protests. Then, they were released on bail.
On April 25, three journalists received a notice sent by the Evin Prosecutor’s Office. Three women are summoned to testify within five days.
