Sulaymaniyah (Slemani)- The citizens of the Kurdistan Region have been protesting the Turkish military operation against the guerrilla forces in the region since last night.  

Last night, the citizens of Sulaymaniyah held a march from Sehuleke Avenue to Baxê Gişti Park to protest the Turkish attacks. After the march, Başur Peoples’ Initiative issued a statement.

We spoke to journalist Semire Seid. “As journalists, we have to play our roles. The attacks have not been carried out against the PKK; they have been carried out against the people of the Kurdistan Region, Southern Kurdistan. Our people no longer believe the lies told by the pro-betrayers press outlets. The people of Southern Kurdistan don’t support the dirty relationship between Turkey and PDK (also known as KDP) and they condemn them.”

Call on citizens and the Peshmerga forces

Haje Mehemed, a member of the Kurdistan Freedom Movement (Tevgera Azadiya Kurdistanê), called on all citizens to take action against the occupation. She also called on the Peshmerga forces not to participate in the operations, saying, “Stand by your people, not by Erdoğan and the families having their own interests. Don’t open fire against the guerrillas. Turkey wants to occupy Southern Kurdistan. The whole world should see this.”

Peri Qeredaxi, a citizen participating in the protest, said, “We will continue to protest. The people of the Kurdistan Region will not allow this invasion. We should unite.”
