Hasakah- “The paradigm of the Democratic Nation is not only an alternative but also a must for all people in Syria,” said Remziye Mihemed, Co-chair of the Democratic Society Movement (Kurdish: Tevgera Civaka Demokratîk, TEV-DEM), who attended the Democratic Nation Cadres Conference, “Because everyone represents their own will in the Democratic Nation.”
‘An alternative for liberation of the people’
The paradigm of the Democratic Nation rebuilds social organization, Remziye Mihemed emphasized, adding:
“This paradigm is not only for the Kurdish people but also for all the people of the region such as Arab, Syriac, Armenian and Turkmen people because it offers a path where all people can play their roles in all facets of life. A democratic society is a home for every family and individual. It offers people an alternative for freedom and liberation.”
‘A strategic step that requires responsibility’
Remziye Mihemed thinks that the system based on the Democratic Nation is an effective method to stop the war. “The paradigm of the Democratic Nation has protected the social system, allowing people to govern themselves in North and East Syria. The call of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan for peace and democracy in the Middle East can become concrete through this paradigm. It is no longer just a theory or an ethical stance but a strategic step that requires responsibility and effort.”
‘The fundamental responsibility is to activate the communes’
One of the aims of the paradigm of the Democratic Nation is to build a communal society, Remziye Mihemed stressed.
“Building a communal society is also the main criterion for the success of the women's struggle for freedom. The most fundamental responsibility of the cadres of the Democratic Nation is to activate the communes because the communes are the basis of this project. If the communes are not activated, it is not possible to build a democratic government. A communal system can provide solutions to social problems.”
At the end of her speech, Remziye Mihemed called on all women to lead social organization and take more responsibility in activating the communes.
