Shahba- The protests that started in Rojhilat and Iran following the killing of Jina Mahsa Amini in Tehran on September 16 have continued. Students and women have been on the frontline of the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi” protests. The Iranian regime has kidnapped and arrested many students until now for their leading role in the protests. Since November 2022, thousands of female students have been poisoned at schools across the country. Activists say the Iranian regime has poisoned female students to prevent them from participating in the nationwide protests.

Teachers, also members of the Afrin-Shahba Education Committee, expressed their solidarity with the students in Iran and Rojhilat.

‘The uprising will be turned into a revolution by women’

English teacher Deniyal Beko drew attention to the situation of female students in Eastern Kurdistan and said, “Female students have been poisoned in Eastern Kurdistan and Iran. The aim of the regime is to stop the revolution led by women and women from demanding their rights by poisoning female students. We support the students resisting in Rojhilat and Iran because they are also our students.  We believe that the uprising in Rojhilat and Iran will be turned into a revolution by women. Women will never surrender.”

‘We support the protests led by women’

Teacher Meriyem Xan condemned the poisoning of female students in Rojhilat and Iran. “Many female students have been poisoned in Rojhilat and Iran. We condemn the Iranian regime for its attacks on women. The Iranian regime has poisoned female students to end the women’s revolution that started following the killing of Jina Mahsa Amini. Women all around the world protest the Iranian regime in their protests. We also support the women of Rojhilatê Kurdistan and Iran whenever we hold a protest,” she said.

 ‘Pioneer women are targeted’

“Women are subjected to violence by regimes when they demand their rights,” teacher Sevin Ebdo said, “The patriarchal regimes do not want women to have rights and make decisions; they want women to be slaves. As women, we will never accept this. Pioneer women and women politicians are arrested across Kurdistan. The poisoning of female students in Rojhilat and Iran shows that pioneer women are targeted. We strongly condemn the attacks on women.”
