Shengal (Sinjar)- After ISIS committed a genocide against the Yazidi community on August 3,2014, the Yazidi women began to organize themselves under the umbrella of the Yazidi Free Women's Movement (Kurdish: Tevgera Azadiya Jinên Êzîdî-TAJÊ) with the philosophy of “Jin, Jiyan, Azadî (English: Women, Life, Freedom)”. The Yazidi women struggling against the genocidal policies will hold the second congress of their organization, TAJÊ, on November 13, the anniversary of the liberation of Shengal.

The 2nd Congress of the TAJÊ will be held with the motto, “We will protect ourselves against genocidal attacks, we will protect the freedom of women and society”. Speaking about why the congress is important for Yazidi women, Niam Bedel, coordinating member of the TAJÊ, said that the congress would be a response to all attack on the Yazidi people. “We see all the attacks against our people as a continuation of the genocide. We, as TAJÊ, have strengthened our organizational struggle against all attacks to respond all attacks,” Niam Bedel told NuJINHA.

Continuing to speak, Niam Bedel said, “We, as Yazidi women, will struggle and do our best to end the genocidal attacks against us. I invite all women to attend our congress that will be held on November 13.”
