Support visit to Şenyaşar family: Justice brings us together
“Justice brings us together. We will keep seeking justice. We will always be in solidarity with each other,” said the families of victims of the Suruç massacre during their visit to Emine Şenyaşar in front of the Urfa Courthouse.
Riha (Urfa) - The sit-in protest held in front of the Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were murdered in the attack carried out by the relatives and bodyguards of former AKP Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız in Pirsûs (Turkish: Suruç) district of Urfa province on June 14, 2018, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar has entered its 834th day.
In the morning, Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar, who is also Green Left Party Riha MP, came in front of the courthouse to seek justice for their murdered relatives by unfurling a banner reading, “Justice for the Şenyaşar Family”.
Visit from the families of those who lost their lives in Suruç massacre
Today, the Şenyaşar family was visited by the families of those who lost their lives in ISIS suicide bombing outside of the Amara Culture Centre on July 20, 2015, lawyers from the Justice for Suruç Platform, Green Left Party Riha (Urfa) MP Dilan Kunt Ayan, members of the Youth Wing and the Socialist Youth Associations Federation (SGDF).
Dilek Şeker: We have been seeking justice for eight years
Dilek Şeker, daughter of İsmet Şeker, who lost his life in Suruç massacre, said that the families of victims of Suruç massacre have been seeking justice for eight years. “For eight years, we have been saying, ‘Justice for Suruç, justice for everyone’. We say this again today. Emine Şenyaşar lost her children like us. One of her sons has been held in prison. Is there justice (in this country)? No. But we have been seeking justice. We are not afraid.”
Ferit Şenyaşar: We will keep being in solidarity with the families
In his speech, Green Left Party Riha MP Ferit Şenyaşar recalled those who lost their lives in the Suruç massacre. “Those who came to Suruç were our guests. We could not protect our guests and now we ask for their families’ blessing. We will keep being in solidarity with the families until justice is delivered, until the real perpetrators are tried.”
Yasemin Boyraz: Justice brings us together
Yasemin Boyraz, who lost her mother Nazegül Bahar Boyraz in the Suruç massacre, said, “I do not know Kurdish while mother Emine does not know Turkish but justice brings us together. We will keep seeking justice and always be in solidarity. Actually, we ask for the family’s blessing because we could not support the family (Şenyaşar family) too much. We will always be in solidarity with the family.”
