Many social media users have posted messages, expressing their support to the woman, who removed a cleric’s turban and used it as a scarf at Tehran's Mehrabad Airport on Monday in protest of Iran's compulsory hijab laws.
News Center- An Iranian woman removed a cleric's turban and used it as a scarf after he scolded her for not wearing a hijab at Tehran's Mehrabad Airport on Monday.
Since the release of a video capturing a confrontation between the woman and the cleric over compulsory hijab laws on social media platforms, many social media users have posted messages, expressing their support to the woman.
After the incident, Mashregh News, a pro-government news agency, reported that the woman was arrested and then released, claiming that the woman is “mentally ill”. The claim of the news agency has sparked anger on social media platforms. The news agency had previously used the same expressions against women protesting the compulsory hijab laws of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
