Sit-in protest of Şenyaşar family continues on its 807th day
On the 807th day of the sit-in protest of the Şenyaşar family, the members of the Education and Science Workers' Union (Eğitim-Sen) visited Emine Şenyaşar to be in solidarity with her.
Riha (Urfa) - The sit-in protest held in front of the Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were murdered in the attack carried out by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız in Pirsûs (Turkish: Suruç) district of Urfa province on June 14, 2018, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar continues on its 807th day.
In the morning, Emine Şenyaşar went in front of the Urfa Courthouse alone to demand justice because her son Ferit Şenyaşar is in Ankara since he is a MP of the Party of Greens and the Left Future (Green Left Party) from Urfa province.
‘All problems will be solved if justice is secured’
The members of the Education and Science Workers' Union (Eğitim-Sen) Riha Branch visited Emine Şenyaşar, who unfurled a banner reading, “We have demanded justice for 5 years”. Mahmut Binici, head of the Eğitim-Sen Riha Branch, made a speech in front of the courthouse. “The mother (Emine Şenyaşar) demands justice not only for herself but also for everyone. The mother struggles for judicial independence. As the union, we have visited the mother many times and we will keep visiting her to be in solidarity with her. Our demand is that the new Minister of Justice should make an effort to punish the perpetrators. Injustice is the root of all problems. All problems will be solved if justice is secured,” Mahmut Binici said in his speech.
‘Stop judging us’
In her speech, Emine Şenyaşar said, “We have been seeking justice for five years. I come here in summer and winter despite all the difficulties. Despite the hot weather, I am here now. We have been persecuted. We expect justice to come. Enough, my son (Fadıl Şenyaşar) must be released from prison now. What kind of state is this state, there is no such state anywhere. My son Ferit seeks justice in Ankara while I seek justice here. Tomorrow, I will stand trial (on charges of insulting AKP’s İbrahim Halil Yıldız). Stop judging us.”
