Sit-in protest for justice enters its 693rd day
Despite the rain and bad weather conditions, the Şenyaşar family continues to hold their sit-in protest demanding justice.
Riha - The sit-in protest held in front of the Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were murdered in the attack carried out by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız in the Suruç (Kurdish: Pirsûs) district of Urfa province on June 14, 2018, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar continues on its 693rd day.
Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar came in front of the courthouse to hold their sit-in despite the rain and bad weather conditions. The family’s banner reading “Justice for the Şenyaşar family”, which was confiscated by the municipal police of the Urfa Municipality held by the AKP on October 22, 2022, was reportedly given back to the family. The family started holding their sit-in by unfurling this banner today.
‘Our rights will also be given back’
“Our sit-in protest for justice is on its 693rd day… 3 months ago, the Metropolitan Municipality held by the @Akparti confiscated our banner. Today, our banner was given back to us. We believe that the rights we demand will also be given back to us. Not tomorrow, but now! JUSTICE after 2000,” the Şenyaşar family posted today on their social media account.
