News Center – Houthi violations against civilians continue in a number of Yemeni areas, amid an escalation of random shelling and direct targeting of populated areas, which exacerbates human losses and confirms the widening scope of risks threatening the lives of residents.

Seven civilians, including children, were killed and another child was injured as a result of shelling carried out by the Houthis on Al-Rabou' Market in the Al-Maqatira area of Lahj city, yesterday, Friday, 18 September, located on the administrative border with Taiz.

Eyewitnesses from local residents reported that the shelling directly targeted the market while citizens were present, resulting in the fall of victims. Among the victims was a child named Raad Issa Ibrahim, nine years old, who was accompanied by his cousin, who was also injured in the same incident.

Sources explained that the two children were on their way back to their homes after visiting the market when the shelling occurred, leading to the death of one and the injury of the other. This tragic incident comes in the context of the Houthis' continued targeting of populated areas and civilian gatherings with shelling, exposing the lives of civilians, including children, to grave danger.
