Hunger striker Saadet Akın composes new song
Saadet Akın, one of the political prisoners who initiated a rotational hunger strike demanding “freedom for Abdullah Öcalan and a solution to the Kurdish question” on November 27, has composed a new song.
News Center- The rotational hunger strike initiated by political prisoners in Kurdistan and Turkey prisons on November 27, demanding “Freedom for PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan and a solution to the Kurdish question” has entered its fourth day.
Saadet Akın and Zelal Bilgin, two political prisoners held in Sincan Women’s Closed Prison, initiated a 10-day hunger strike in prison on November 27. Saadet Akın previously composed a song named “Jîna” for Jina Mahsa Amini, who was killed by Iran’s so-called “morality police”. Saadet Akın has composed a new song.
In a phone call with her family, Saadet Akın sang her song, calling people to break their silence against oppression and supporting their resistance.
Saadet Akın was arrested during the curfews declared in the Sur district of Amed (Diyarbakır) in 2015. Being held in Diyarbakır Women’s Closed Prison for about two years, she was transferred to Mersin Tarsus Women’s Closed Prison. Being held in Mersin Tarsus Women’s Closed Prison for about two years, she was then transferred to Ankara Sincan Women’s Closed Prison. She has been held in Ankara Sincan Women’s Closed Prison for five years.
