Sepideh Gholian ends her hunger strike

Iranian political prisoner Sepideh Gholian has reportedly ended her hunger strike.

News Center- Iranian political prisoner Sepideh Gholian, who went on a hunger strike on September 9, 2022 to protest authorities ignoring her request to be transferred to a prison in the city where her parents live. On September 13, she was hospitalized due to her deteriorating physical condition. According to the received reports, she ended her hunger strike on September 15 after prison officials promised to discuss her request.

In November 2018, Sepideh Gholian was arrested along with about 20 activists, protest organizers, and workers during the Haft Tappeh Sugar Factory strike. While most were released on bond the next day, Sepideh Gholian was imprisoned for a month. She was released on bail in December.

After her release, she described to Amnesty International the acts of torture she suffered by security officials. She was later sentenced to five years in prison. On March 10, 2021, she was exiled to Bushehr prison from Evin prison.
