Sara Organization condemns crimes committed against women in Afrin by Turkish state
The Sara Organization to Combat Violence against Women condemned the crimes committed against women in Afrin by the Turkish state and called on the international community to hold the Turkish state accountable for its crimes.
News Center- The Turkish state and Turkish-backed factions continue to commit crimes against women in the occupied Afrin. Several days ago, a “court” set up by the Turkish state and Turkish-backed factions sentenced two kidnapped women to death and eight more to life imprisonment.
The Sara Organizations to Combat Violence against Women issued a statement condemning the inhuman practices carried out by the Turkish state and Turkish-backed factions against women in the occupied Afrin. “As the anniversary of the Turkish occupation in Afrin is approaching, the Turkish forces and Turkish-backed factions keep committing the most horrific crimes against the people of Afrin,” the statement said. “Kurdish people, particularly Kurdish women, are killed, kidnapped, raped, arrested and tortured by the Turkish state and Turkish-backed factions in Afrin. The families of factions are settled in Afrin to erase the Kurdish identity in Afrin and this is a violation of international conventions.”
Recalling the death sentences and life imprisonment given to 10 women in Afrin, the statement said, “As Sara Organization to Combat Violence against Women, we condemn the crimes committed against women in Afrin and call on the international community and international human rights organizations to immediate stop crimes committed by the Turkish state and Turkish-backed factions in the occupied Afrin and hold them accountable for their crimes.”
