The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health announced on Saturday, March 14,that 12 medical personnel were killed in an Israeli airstrike that struck a primary healthcare center in Borj Qallawayeh in the Bint Jbeil District of southern Lebanon.The victims included doctors, paramedics,and nurses who were on duty at the facility at the time of attack, while another healthcare worker was injured.
The ministry noted that the casualty figures remain preliminary as search operations continue for missing people trapped under the rubble. Rescue teams are facing difficulties due to ongoing bombardment.
Officials added that the strike on the Borj Qallawayeh center occurred only hours after another Israeli airstrike targeted paramedics in the town of Al-Sawaneh, killing two of them while were performing rescue duties.
Authorities warned that repeated strikes on healthcare facilities within a short period represent a serious escalation that threatens the ability of the southern health sector to respond to emergencies.
Israel has also continued targeting infractructure.Israeli aircraft struck a major bridge over the Litani River between the towns of Zrariyeh and Tayr Felsay.Partially destroying it and rendering it unusable, according to the National News Agency (Lebanon).
Additional airstrikes were reported in several southern areas, including a strike near the city of Sidon, which killed eight people and injured nine others.
Rising Toll
The total number of casualties from Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon has risen to 773 killed and 1,933 wounded since March 2, according to the daily report issued by the emergency operations center of the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health.
The report confirmed that the death toll has reached 773 since the escalation began, while the number of injured has climbed to 1,933 amid continuing military operations and expanding strikes across several Lebanese regions.
The report also recorded a new increase in child casualties. The number of children killed rose from 98 to 103 within a single day, while the number of injured children increased from 304 to 326 in recent hours.
These figures come as Israeli airstrikes continue across different areas of Lebanon, amid warnings of a deteriorating humanitarian situation and a further rise in casualties as military operations persist.
