News Center- The Administrative and Observation Board has postponed the release of imprisoned journalist Derya Ren, who has been held Diyarbakır Closed Women's Prison and was expected to be released from prison in May 2024, for three months
Jinnews reporter Derya Ren was sentenced to four years, one month and 15 days in prison by the Şanlıurfa 6th High Criminal Court on charges of “aiding terrorist organization”. After the prison sentence was upheld by the Turkish Supreme Court, she was arrested in a house raid on October 25, 2022.
On August 31, 2023, her lawyers demanded her “conditional release”; however, the Administrative and Observation Board rejected the demand on the ground that she “voluntarily stays in the cell of detainees and convicts who are active members of the PKK organization.”
