Number of women detained in Batman increases

The number of women detained as part of an investigation launched by the Batman Chief Public Prosecutor's Office increases to 18.

Elih (Batman)- An arrest warrant was issued against 20 women as part of an investigation launched by the Batman Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office over terrorism charges. On May 31, 15 women, including politicians and activists, were detained in the house raids in the city. Yesterday, three more women were detained in Diyabakır and Iğdır as part of the same investigation. Free Women’s Movement (TJA) activists Hacire Tanırgan and Leyla Bayram were detained in Diyarbakır; a woman, whose name hasn’t been known yet, was detained in Iğdır province. After their detention, they were reportedly taken to the city of Batman.

HDP's dismissed Batman Co-mayor Songül Korkmaz, Bekirhan Co-mayor Gülistan Sönük, Kozluk Co-mayor Nazime Avcı, former HDP Batman Provincial Co-chair Fatma Ablay, HDP Provincial Council member Semra Güneş, Batman Municipal Council member Sebahat Acar, HDP Batman Central District Co-chair Gurbet Doğan, Free Women’s Movement (TJA) activists Gurbet Bozyiğit, Halide Keser, Gülnur Deli, Zeynep Oduncu, Ruken Zeryam Işık, Şükran Çelebi, Nuran Altan and Kurdish singer Sevda Adırbeli.
