Qamishlo- Kurdish Leader Abdullah Öcalan left Syria on October 9, 1998, and he was brought to Turkey on February 15, 1998, by the partnership of global powers. Abdullah Öcalan has been held in Imralı F-Type High-Security Prison for 23 years. Narfin Xebat, a member of the Women's Council Coordination of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) spoke to our news agency about the international conspiracy against Abdullah Öcalan on October 9, 1998, and Turkey’s military operation against NE Syria on October 9, 2019.

“Their aim was to destroy the Kurdish movement”

Underlining that Abdullah Öcalan left Syria for the security of the people in Syria, Narfin Xebat said, “Leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan) aimed to build a democratic Syria. He knew how to solve the problems in the Middle East. They aimed to destroy the Kurdish movement by carrying out a conspiracy against him. But the Leader Abdullah Öcalan failed their plan and decided to leave Syria. The conspiratorial powers targeted Abdullah Öcalan to destroy the peoples’ hope and faith. All international powers and Southern Kurdistan joined the conspiracy.”

“Turkey violates its own law”

Pointing to the ongoing international conspiracy, Narfin Xebat continued to speak, “The international conspiracy continues in different forms. The isolation imposed upon Abdullah Öcalan is one of the methods of this conspiracy. They want to destroy the Freedom Movement and the will of the people over Abdullah Öcalan. The family and lawyers of Abdullah Öcalan have legal rights to see him; however, the Turkish state violates its own law by preventing them to see him.”

“Women will work to fail the conspiracies”

Emphasizing that Abdullah Öcalan is known all around the world, Narfin Xebat kept speaking as follows; “The conspiratorial powers never stop and they want to put their plans in practice over Erdoğan. The Turkish state has attacked everywhere to get some gains before the termination of the Treaty of Lausanne. Permanent peace will be guaranteed in the world when the Democratic Nation project is developed. The national states must see the power of the people. For instance, they have already formed their defense forces, organizations, and women’s movement in NE Syria. No one can deny these. We know that there are many conspiracies against us and that the politics against us. We, as women, will work to fail these conspiracies.”

“They deliberately chose October 9 to attack”

Narfin Xebat recalled the military operations launched on October 9, 2019, on NE Syria, “The sovereign powers deliberately choose the dates of their attacks. The attacks on Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî on October 9, 2019, show their purpose. The invasion of Afrin was also an international conspiracy. The attacks on Shengal were also some forms of these conspiracies. They targeted Kurds in all their attacks. The silence of the world means they approve the attacks. People are abducted, killed, women are subjected to rape but they keep silent.”

“They aim to attack the democratic nation project”

Narfin Xebat emphasized that since the democratic nation system was established, all people find themselves in this system, and especially women lead this system. “The sovereign powers are afraid of this system. Because it is an alternative to the nation-state. For this reason, all attacks against us are attacks against the democratic nation system. We, as women, will not allow what happened during the Lausanne peace negotiations to happen again.”
