Nahid Taghavi temporarily released from Evin prison

Nahid Taghavi, a German-Iranian citizen, was temporarily released from Evin prison on September 28. She has to wear an ankle monitor in order to comply with the terms of her release.

Nahid Taghavi’ has to wear an ankle monitor in order to comply with the terms of her release and is restricted to within one kilometer of her home, her daughter, Miriam Claren announced on Monday.

Nahid Taghavi suffers from a herniated disc, diabetes, high blood pressure and a painful eye disease. Since she is restricted to within one kilometer of her home, she cannot receive proper treatment, her daughter said.

Nahid Taghavi, a retired architect and women's rights activist, was arrested while she was visiting Tehran in October 2020 on national security charges. In 2021, she was sentenced to 10 years in prison on charges of “leading an illegal group” and eight months on charges of “propaganda activity against the regime”.
