Melika Gharagozlou sentenced to 3 years and 8 months in prison
Melika Gharagozlou has been reportedly sentenced to three years and eight months in prison by the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Tehran.
News Center- While Iranian people have held protests against the Iranian compulsory wearing of hijab, Iranian activist against the compulsory wearing of hijab and student of journalism Melika Gharagozlou has been reportedly sentenced to three years and eight months in prison on charges of “Propagandizing against the regime” and “acting incompatible with chastity” by the 26th branch of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran. The court has also banned her from being a member of political and social groups and even social networks and fined her eight million Iranian Tomans.
Melika Gharagozlou is known for her activist identity and she has participated in protests against the compulsory wearing of hijab, posted videos on her social media account. Melika Gharagozlou was arrested on November 17, 2019 during the nationwide protests against the mandatory hijab law and she was released from Evin prison on a 60 million Tomans bail on December 1, 2019.
