Martyrs of May commemorated in Izmir
A commemoration ceremony was held in Izmir for the patriotic and revolutionary leaders, who were killed in May while fighting for freedom.
Izmir- The Anatolian Association for Aid and Solidarity with Families who lost their Relatives (ANYAKAY-DER) and the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) held a commemoration ceremony in the building of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Izmir office for the patriotic and revolutionary leaders, who were killed in May while fighting for freedom. The members of the Peace Mothers’ Initiative, the Free Women’s Movement (Kurdish: Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA), the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and the Associations for Solidarity with Prisoners’ Families in Aegean region (EGE-TUHAYDER) attended the ceremony.
After a minute's silence, the commemoration ceremony started. At the ceremony, the people commemorated Deniz Gezmiş, Hüseyin Aslan and Yusuf İnan, who were executed on May 6, 1972, İbrahim Kaypakkaya, who was executed by shooting in prison in 1973, Ferhat Kurtay, Eşref Anyık, Necmi Önen and Mahmut Zengin, who were tortured and killed in Diyarbakır Prison in 1982, and Haki Karer, who was killed in 1977.
