Shengal (Sinjar)- The women of Shengal held a march led by the Yazidi Free  Women’s Movement

(Kurdish: Tevgera Azadiya Jinên Êzîdî-TAJÊ) to protest the aggravated isolation imposed on Kurdish

leader Abdullah Öcalan. The women, including Arab women, gathered near Seytera Sinunê to march to

Mam Zekî Crossroad. Before the march, a press statement was issued. In the statement, women

demanded that Abdullah Öcalan must be allowed to see his lawyers.

‘The thoughts of leader Apo spread around the world’

The press statement was read by Edul Şemo, a member of TAJÊ. Greeting Abdullah Öcalan's resistance

against the international conspiracy, Edul Şemo said, “The philosophy of leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan)

has already left its mark in history. For this reason, leader Apo has been imprisoned by the conspiratorial

powers. The enemies of humanity must know very well that leader Apo’s ideology expressing a free,

equal and democratic life has already spread around the world like seeds. Today, these seeds wage a

struggle to ensure the physical freedom of leader Apo all over the world. We will never stop until we

gain victory. Bijî Serok Apo, Bê Serok Jiyan nabe (English: Long live leader Apo, no life without the

leader)”

After the statement was read, the march started. The marchers said they would struggle until Abdullah

Öcalan physical freedom was achieved.

‘We will do everything for his physical freedom’

Meyan Nasir, member of TAJÊ, said, “We send our greetings to leader Apo from Shengal. As Yazidi

women and community, we never accept the isolation imposed on leader Apo. The aggravated isolation

imposed on Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan is unacceptable. Leader Apo sent his fighters to Shengal to

protect us. Leader Apo has a free thought based on the freedom of all nations and religions. Since his

freedom is our freedom, we will do everything for his physical freedom.”

‘Leader Apo made a great effort for us’

Another member of TAJÊ, Feho Silêman commented on the aggravated isolation imposed on Abdullah

Öcalan and said, “Leader Apo made a great effort for us. Thanks to his thoughts, our children and people

are educated now. Now, our responsibility is to break the isolation imposed on leader Apo and ensure

his physical freedom. Leader Apo has been held in prison for 24 years. Until now, the Turkish state and

its partners have carried out many inhuman practices against him. We do not accept this. Leader Apo

must be allowed to see his lawyers and family members.”
