Lawyer Rûşîn Hido: We should ensure physical freedom of leader Apo
Rûşîn Hido, Co-chair of Shahba-Afrin Lawyers’ Union, pointed to the aggravated isolation imposed on Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and said, “We should ensure physical freedom of leader Apo.”

Shahba- In an interview with NuJINHA, Rûşîn Hido, Co-chair of Shahba-Afrin Lawyers’ Union, commented on the 25th anniversary of the international conspiracy against Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan. She pointed to his struggle for the freedom of Kurdish people and said, “He has faced threats because he wants to rescue the oppressed people from the sovereign powers since the beginning of his struggle. His struggle and thoughts are legitimate and protect human rights.”
‘He offers a perspective on the solution of the problems in the Middle East’
Rûşîn Hido emphasized that Abdullah Öcalan offers many perspectives regarding the solution of the problems in the Middle East and said, “However, hegemonic powers see him as a threat against them because his perspectives do not serve hegemonic powers.” Recalling that Abdullah Öcalan was brought out of Syria by an international conspiracy, Rûşîn Hido said, “The aim of this conspiracy was to nullify his ideology and thoughts. 25 years have passed since the international conspiracy and leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan) has been held in Imrali prison for 25 years.”
‘CPT did not meet with leader Apo’
Pointing to the aggravated isolation imposed on Abdullah Öcalan in Imrali prison, she said, “In order to prevent his ideology and thoughts from spreading to the world, no visit has been allowed. International human rights organizations must fulfill their responsibilities. The duties of the Council of Europe Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) include visiting prisons and monitoring the situation of prisoners. Although the CPT went to Imrali, it did not meet with leader Apo. The isolation imposed on leader Apo continues in the name of disciplinary punishment.”
‘If people put pressure on the Turkish state, leader Apo will be released’
Rûşîn Hido added, “Self-defense will guarantee leader Apo’s freedom. If people form their self-defense system, leader Apo’s wish will be fulfilled. If people rise up and put pressure on the Turkish state, leader Apo will be released. We call on all lawyers and people to ensure the physical freedom of leader Apo in order to have a free life.”
