Kobanê- The Jineology Education and Research Center in Kobanê carries out different studies on the science of Jineology in each cantons and region of North and East Syria.

‘Women can improve themselves’

Cane Abdo, member of the center, spoke about the science of Jineology and their activities in Kobanê. “We focus on women’s research and education in the Euphrates Region, particularly in the Kobanê canton. We carry out activities to make Jineology be known and spread.”

‘Jineology is a science that reveals the truth about not only women but also men'

Pointing out that people see Jineology as a women’s science, Cane Abdo said, “For this reason, men do not participate in the activities and contribute to the development of the science of jineology. Jineology is a science that reveals the truth about not only women but also men. We hold seminars and workshops to raise awareness of the public. We believe that women can improve themselves through their own effort and philosophy.”

Research on ethics and aesthetics

In 2023, the Jineology Education and Research Center conducted research on “ethics and aesthetics”.

“The Jineology Academy in Qamishlo has been working on writing a research book based on the findings of the research. We held meetings to discuss ethics and aesthetics. We conducted research on what people, particularly young women, think about ethics and aesthetics. We researched the impact of ethics and aesthetics on adults and young people,” Cane Abdo said.

The center also conducted sociological research on the positive and negative effects of tribes on the culture of Kobanê. “We researched the effects of tribes on society and women.”

‘Men use religion to legitimate their behaviors’

Cane Abdo also talked about the impact of religion on society. “We confronted this issue during each meeting and workshop. For this reason, we decided to conduct research on it. We compared Islam, Christianity, Judaism and Zoroastrianism. The findings of the research reveals that men use religion to legitimate their behaviors. Religions protect the patriarchal mindset.”

‘The more women know themselves, the more gender-based violence will decrease’

The center also launched a campaign to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, November 25.

“We conducted research on which form of violence is more common and how women should struggle to eliminate violence against them. Many women told us that physical violence against women decreased in society thanks to women’s struggle. The more women know themselves, the more gender-based violence will decrease. We also held meetings to discuss ‘How we can build a common life’. We plan to collect the findings of the research and publish a brochure.

“Women must first improve themselves to build a free life. We make great efforts to reach all women by holding meetings and workshops.”
