Qamishlo- Kongra Star Health Committee will soon open a health center for women and children in the Qidûrbek neighborhood of Qamishlo, a city in the Jazira Canton of North and East Syria.
The center will be opened 10 days later, said Mehfûza Ehmed, a member of the committee. “The purpose of opening the center is to provide health service to women and children in the neighborhood because there is no health center near the neighborhood. Women have to take their children to hospitals far away from the neighborhood. We currently provide health courses such as prenatal courses to women,” she told NuJINHA.
Doctors and medical supplies are ready
The health center will have two departments; one for women and the other for children. “The center will have its own pharmacy. Doctors and medical supplies of the center are ready. The Martyr Mihemed Salih Commune supported us to build a health center in the neighborhood,” said Mehfûza Ehmed, indicating that every woman should receive education to do useful work for her society. “Women should improve themselves, not waste their time. As women, we should contribute to the development of our society. Every woman should receive education, improve herself and work.”
‘All employees received training’
Sîta Mustefa, another member of the committee, thinks that the economic crisis has affected the health sector the most. “Everything is getting more expensive and people are getting poorer. People suffer from the increase in drug prices. We decided to open a health center in the neighborhood to support women and children. Six health care workers will work at the center. All employees received training. I want every woman to participate in the labor force. There is no difference between men and women, women should believe in themselves.”
