Journalist Sema Korkmaz and HDP members released after spending 4 days in custody
HDP members and Democratic Modernity Journal employee Sema Korkmaz, who were taken into custody on April 3, have been released.
Istanbul- 18 people, including the People's Democratic Party (HDP) Youth Assembly members and Democratic Modernity Journal employee Sema Korkmaz, were taken into custody on April 3. The statement procedures of 18 people held at the Istanbul Security Directorate in Vatan Street for four days as part of an investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office were completed yesterday.
One sent to prison
Being accused of “membership of a (terrorist) organization” for their social media posts, participating in press conferences, Kemal Kurkut Football Tournament and picnics, 18 people were transferred to the Istanbul Courthouse. While two people were released under judicial control, eight people, including journalist Sema Korkmaz, were transferred to the Criminal Court of Peace to be sent to prison. Seven people, including journalist Sema Korkmaz were released under judicial control, one person was sent to prison by the court.
