Israeli strikes kill 33 in Gaza, including aid seekers

Thirty-three Palestinians, including eight awaiting humanitarian aid, were killed as Israeli strikes targeted civilian homes, displaced-person tents, and aid recipients across several areas of Gaza.

News Center – Amid an ongoing severe humanitarian crisis, Israeli forces continue operations marked by forced displacement, destruction, and the killing of civilians, including those waiting for aid.

Intense Israeli air raids struck wide areas of Gaza, focusing on the eastern part of Jabalia in the north, alongside continued bombardment of neighborhoods such as al-Zeitoun and al-Daraj. Additional raids hit Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis, causing extensive damage to civilian homes and property.

Since dawn on Wednesday, August 20, Israeli forces targeted civilian homes, displacement tents, and aid recipients, killing 33 Palestinians, including eight awaiting humanitarian assistance in al-Sabra neighborhood in the south, al-Shati refugee camp, and a home in Nazla, Jabalia, in the north.

As part of a gradual plan to reoccupy Gaza, Israeli forces continue killings, forced evictions, and home demolitions in al-Zeitoun. Reports indicate the plan seeks to gradually reoccupy the entire Gaza Strip, starting with Gaza City—displacing roughly one million Palestinians—before moving south and encircling urban areas for ground operations in residential neighborhoods.

Since October 2023, Israeli actions in Gaza have been widely described as genocidal, involving killings, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, in defiance of international appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice. The conflict has killed 62,064 Palestinians and injured 156,573, most of them women and children, with over 9,000 reported missing. Hundreds of thousands have been displaced, and famine has claimed 266 lives, including 112 children.
