Iranian activist Leyla Ziafar arrested in Tehran
Iranian human rights activist Leyla Ziafar, who has a Ph.D. in the food industry, was arrested in Tehran on Wednesday for posting a tweet against Iran’s mandatory hijab law.
News Center- The protests that sparked in Iran and Eastern Kurdistan following the killing of Jina Mahsa Amini by Iran’s so-called ‘morality police’ in Tehran on September 16, 2022, continue. The Iranian government tries to quell the protests by using different inhuman practices such as arrests, prison sentences, killing protesters, executions and poisoning of schoolgirls.
Iranian human rights activist Leyla Ziafar, who has a Ph.D. in the food industry, was arrested in Tehran on Wednesday, (July 19) for posting a tweet against Iran’s mandatory hijab law on July 18. She was reportedly arrested after leaving her sister’s residence at midnight. Then, security forces searched her home and confiscated her electronic devices, including her cell phone.
The post of Leyla Ziafar said, “It is impossible that we turn back from the path we paved. To remove the compulsory Hijab and its captivity, we will not let the blood of those slain be trampled.”
