Iran executes two more people

Iran has executed two people, who had been sentenced to death for “Burning the copies of Quran and insulting Islam, Prophet Muhammad.”

News Center- Iran has executed two people, who had been sentenced to death for “Burning the copies of Quran and insulting Islam, Prophet Muhammad”.  Mizan, the judiciary's news website, has announced the executions of Yousef Mehrdad and Sadrollah Fazeli Zare today, May 8. According to Mizan, Sadrollah Fazeli Zare had confessed to insulting the prophet and Islam.

‘Iran tortures to extract confessions’

The human rights organizations state that Iran tortures to extract confessions. In Iran, where there is no fair trial, many people are sentenced to death after a few minutes of show trials.

According to many human rights organizations, including Amnesty International, Iran has the highest number of executions in the world after China.

Iranian human rights organization, Iran Human Rights (IHR), and French NGO Together Against Death Penalty (French: Ensemble contre la peine de mort, ECPM) previously announced that the number of people executed in 2022 increased by 75 percent compared to 2021. According to their reports, at least 333 people were executed in Iran in 2021, while at least 582 people were executed in 2022.
