News Center- Iran executed five political prisoners in Vakilabad prison situated in the city of Mashhab on Wednesday without informing their families, Norway-based Iran Human Rights (IHR) said in a statement.

“These prisoners were subjected to torture and sentenced to death following an unfair trial," said IHR director Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam.

The five political prisoners were arrested in 2015 and sentenced to death on charges of armed insurrection (baghi)”, according to the statement.

According to the Iran Human Rights (IHR), Iran has executed at least 245 people since the beginning of 2025.
