Initiative for Peacebuilding founded: Women will build peace
The women of İzmir have announced the foundation of the Initiative for Peacebuilding against wars produced by male-dominant mentality.
News Center- A group of women living in İzmir province held a press conference to announce the foundation of the Initiative for Peacebuilding.
Didar Gül read the press statement on behalf of women. Didar Gül said that the world has been suffering from non-stop wars and they come together to build peace against wars.
“We want peace not war”
Noting that the war policies of the ruling party is against Kurdish people and workers, Didar Gül said that the ruling party also target living creatures by destroying nature.
“We want peace not war. Because war means more exploitation of our labor. War means the denial of our identity, the reproduction of discrimination, hate speech and racism. War means the violation of fundamental human rights such as the right to education, the right to health and the right to life,” Didar Gül said in the statement.
“We will build peace”
Women and LGBTI people decided to found the initiative after discussing “What kind of peace?” they wanted to.
“We will build Peace by holding a series of activities and events to reach more people. We plan to hold a meeting in December to be more active. We will hold our first street action about peace at Konak Pier on October 8 at 17.00 and we will hold our second street action at Karşıyaka Pier on October 19 at 18.30. We call on women and LGBTI people to be in solidarity with us in order to build peace together,” the statement said.
