News Center- “I Engraved My Heart into the Mountains” is a diary written by Turkey’s first female editor-in-chief Gurbetelli Ersöz from 1995 to 1997. Being translated into French, the diary has been published by Les Éditions d’en Bas.

 The book event on September 29

The book event will be held at Le Pavillon in Lausanne, Switzerland, on September 29 at 18.00 with the participation of Pascal Cottin, an editor of Les Éditions d’en Bas, Jean Richard, director of Les Éditions d’en Bas, and Bernard Fibicher, former director of the Musée Cantonal des Beaux-Arts.

Turkey’s first female editor-in-chief Gurbetelli Ersöz, was arrested and tortured for her journalistic activities when she was the editor-in-chief of the Özgür Gündem newspaper. After being released, she joined the PKK. She wrote her memories from 1995 to 1977 and then published her diary entitled, “I Engraved My Heart into the Mountains”. On October 8, 1997, when she was 32 years old, she lost her life in a clash that broke out in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
