Benghazi- Libyan Organization for Development launched a project called “Pioneering Women” on October 3 to support and encourage women to build the region's economy. We spoke to Fadwa Benamer, the director of the project of the Libyan Organization for Development, about the goals and stages of the project.
“We will provide financial support to five projects”
“We have launched the project in three cities; Derna, Al-Bayda, and Benghazi,” Fadwa Benamer told us. Within the scope of the project, the organization held a training course. After the women attending this course receive a certificate, they will hold a course via Zoom for another group of women. “The third stage of the project is to provide technical support in the three cities. The ‘Pioneering Women’ project helps women to get ideas for various projects and how to implement them on the ground. The last stage of the project is to provide technical and artistic support for women’s projects. We will choose five projects from all cities and provide financial support to these five projects,” Fadwa Benamer said.
“Many women want to get information about the project”
Fadwa Benamer talked about why they named their project “Pioneering Women”. “Because women are pioneers and innovators, they just need support to get started.” After they launched the project, many women got in contact with them to get information about the project. Some wealthy women also got in contact with them and told them that they want to launch a project for women but they don’t have any ideas.
Women show great interest in the project
Fadwa Benamer talked about the success of the project since its launch a few days ago, “The success rate of the project is high. We determined a certain number of women, who attend the course. In the beginning, only 10 women would attend the course but we received more than 245 applications. Only 15 women from each city attended the training course.”
Fadwa Benamer hopes each of Libyan women to have their own project.
