Foreign Affairs representative of KJAR: We will realize women's dream of freedom

Speaking about the attacks on the pioneers of the Kurdish Women’s Freedom Movement, Rozerin Kemanger, Foreign Affairs representative of the East Kurdistan Free Woman Society (KJAR) said, “We will realize women’s dream of freedom.”

Sulaymaniyah- On January 9, 2013, three Kurdish women politicians Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şaylemez were murdered While there were several days for the 10th anniversary of this massacre, a second massacre took place in Paris on December 23, 2022.  Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) Executive Council Member Emine Kara (Evîn Goyi), Kurdish singer Mîr Perwer (Mehmet Şirin Aydın) and Abdurrahman Kızıl were murdered the massacre in 2022.

Condemning the massacres that took place in Paris, Rozerin Kemanger, Foreign Affairs representative of the East Kurdistan Free Woman Society (KJAR) pointed to the date of the second massacre and said that the targeted women were the pioneers of the Kurdish Women’s Struggle.

‘Women pioneers are targeted’

Rozerin Kemanger underlined that Kurdish women pioneers such as Sakine Cansız and Evîn Goyî were targeted on purpose, “Women pioneers are targeted because they wage a strong struggle against the patriarchal mentality.”

“The aim of the Kurdish women is to change the mentality of Kurdish society and other societies,” Rozerin Kemanger said, “Kurdish women have become a role model for Azeri, Baloch, Arab, Afghan and other women and their leading role poses a threat to the capitalist system, international powers and nation-states. That’s why they are always subjected to attacks.”

‘There is no time or place for the spirit of revolution’

Pointing to the ongoing uprising led by women in Iran and Rojhilat Kurdistan, Rozerin Kemanger said, “There is no time or place for the spirit of revolution. The Iranian government oppresses women and people but women and people will defeat the Iranian regime by resisting. People, particularly women, need a common struggle to fight oppression. Together, we will realize women’s dream of freedom.”
