Feminist Activist Affirms the Importance of Democratic Integration for Achieving Cross-Border Peace

Feminist activist Geneviève Fraisse affirmed that her support for leader Abdullah Öcalan's call for peace and a democratic society stems from her conviction that the perspective of “democratic integration” can open the way for cross-border peace.

News Center_ Positions supporting the international campaign backing leader Abdullah Öcalan's call for peace and the building of a democratic society continue to emerge. Among the figures who have declared their support for this campaign is French philosopher, feminist, and former Member of the European Parliament Geneviève Fraisse, who expressed her endorsement of the initiative and its vision toward a more just and stable future.

Geneviève Fraisse's message included the following:

Identities are not fixed structures one is born with but are historical, political, and fluid processes. Kurdish identity, too, is a dynamic structure shaped in the geography of Mesopotamia and Anatolia, and today has a presence in Europe through the diaspora. It has also developed in close interaction with the cultural and political life of other peoples with whom Kurds have lived. For this reason, I believe that Abdullah Öcalan's call to transform Kurdishness from an isolated state into a dialogical relationship through the call for peace and democratic society is a timely and fitting call.

Formulating a just and cross-border policy among Kurdish, Turkish, Arab, and Persian peoples is a natural necessity consistent with the transformative nature of identities. The time has come to continue the struggle against colonialism and nationalist tendencies through a non-separatist vision that transcends traditional borders. In my opinion, what Abdullah Öcalan proposes under the term "democratic integration" fully reflects this orientation. I wish you success in your endeavors to consolidate peace.
