Hesekê- Women beautify everything around them and create the joy of living everywhere they live. After the revolution in Rojava, women have worked for the Autonomous Administration more equally and become the pioneers of every work. Eyla Oglo, who worked for the organizations of the Syrian regime before the revolution, has carried out her works for the organizations of the Autonomous Administration. 62-year-old Eyla Oglo, is originally from Turkey but now lives in the town of Til Temir. When the revolution started in Rojava, she worked voluntarily for many women's organizations. She is currently working for the Social Justice Committee of the Til Temir Council. We spoke to her about her experiences.
“Women are protected without discrimination”
“There are three nations in the region: Assyrian, Kurdish and Arab. Our participation in the committee makes it possible for us to get to know the cultures of other nations and our relationship with them becomes stronger. When I worked for the Women’s House, I saw that they protected women without discrimination. Assyrian women in the region are often oppressed and blocked by men. Arab women are also oppressed by biases. Women of the Middle East have faced many challenges,” Eyla Oglo told us.
“People defended their lands”
Drawing attention to the resistance of women against the attacks on NE Syria, Eyla Oglo said, “Women of Rojava are fighters. They play an important role in the fighting. They founded their own defense units. They fought against armed groups along with people of all ages. I also fought despite my age. The people defended their lands together.”
“The co-presidential system was formed as a result of the insistence of women”
Mentioning the co-presidential system in the democratic nation system, Eyla Oglo said, “It was a dream but comes true. This system, a miracle, was formed as a result of the insistence of women. In the Autonomous Administration system, no decision is made without taking the opinion of women. And this system makes women love life more. Women are not only housewives or mothers; they are also the builders of life. Decisions are made by co-chairs, a woman, and a man.”
She gave a seminar for the first time
Stating that she gave a seminar for the first time in her 62-year life, Eyla Oglo continued to speak as follows; “After working for the Women’s House, I started working for the Committee of the Kongreya Star. Later, I worked as the manager of Kongreya Star. I gave my first seminar that time. I gave seminars called “women and politics” in Arab cities such as Ayn Isa, Manbij, Tabqa, and Raqqa. Arab intellectuals and lawyers also attended the seminars. I always wanted to work for justice institutions. For this reason, I began to work for the Social Justice Committee of the Til Temir Council.”
Highlighting that Turkey and the hegemonic powers do not want women to take part in a democratic system, Eyla Oglo said, “Women living in occupied areas have been abducted, killed, and sold. Turkey and the hegemonic powers want to annihilate women to maintain their sovereignty. I call on women to form their unity and to form a circle around the women's revolution and defend it. Because women are the idea of the revolution. Defend the revolution to build a future for yourselves.”
