Amed – On the 116th day of the sit-in protest staged by Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were killed in the attack carried out by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız in the Suruç district of Urfa province before general elections held in Turkey on June 24, 2018, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar went to Amed (Diyarbakır) to hold talks with Diyarbakır Bar Association and political parties and NGOs.
The family visited the Democracy and Progress Party (Demokrasi ve Atılım Partisi-DEVA). Ferit Şenyaşar made a speech during the visit. “Persecution through the judiciary continues. The killers are known but no lawsuit has been opened yet. We thank DEVA party for their solidarity. We will keep struggling for our cause,” Ferit Şenyaşar said in his speech.
The party provincial chairperson Cihan Ülsen stated that his party follows the incident, “We will continue to stand by the family and oppressed people.”
“They destroyed all records, they should release my son held in prison, and they killed my husband and sons. Their children freely walk around but my children were killed. Do you call this justice?” Emine Şenyaşar asked.
Şenyaşar family visited Diyarbakır Bar Association
After their visit to the DEVA party, the family visited Diyarbakır Bar Association. Emine Şenyaşar couldn’t suppress her tears there and said, “We demand justice, the cruelty against us should be ended.” Ferit Şenyaşar gave information about the massacre to the bar association.
“This incident is heart-breaking. As Diyarbakır Bar Association, we stand by the family. Every lawyer is sensitive to this case. The problem of impunity in Turkey is becoming deeper day by day. We talk about the killing of three people but we cannot reach information because of the limitation decision imposed on the case. We will follow this case to the end,” Diyarbakır Bar Association Head Nahit Eren said.
