Call for immediate release of Peace Mothers
The members of the Peace Mothers Initiative in Mardin demand the release of arrested peace mothers.
News Center- The members of the Peace Mothers Initiative in Mardin held protests calling for the release of Behiye Yalçın, a peace mother arrested in Izmir along with five women, and Hanse Bulut, a peace mother, who is not released from prison despite having completed her sentence.
In Mardin’s Artuklu district, the members of the Peace Mothers Initiative came together in front of the building of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and released a press statement. The statement read by Besna Günay, a member of the initiative, said, “We are the mothers of equality and humanity. Mothers are handcuffed and sent to prison. We condemn the arrest of mothers. We demand the immediate release of peace mothers.”
‘They struggle for peace’
The members of the Peace Mothers Initiative also came together in front of the building of the HDP in the Nusaybin district of Mardin province and released a statement. The statement read by Perihan Atuğ, a member of initiative, said, “We demand the immediate release of peace mothers. Mothers do not want war; they struggle for peace. As the Peace Mothers, we will always demand peace. We do not accept the arrest and detention of mothers.”
