At least 15 people detained in Van
Turkish police conducted house raids in the city of Van, detaining at least 15 people, including DEM Party Provincial Co-chairs Gülşen Kurt and Veysi Dilekçi.
News Center- Turkish police conducted dawn house raids in the city of Van on Tuesday, detaining at least 15 people, including Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Provincial Co-chairs Gülşen Kurt and Veysi Dilekçi.
The names of some detained people are as follows:
Hanım Kaya, Co-chair of the Association of Assistance and Solidarity with Families Who Lost Their Relatives in the Cradle of Civilizations (MEBYA-DER); Aynur Sarıca, activist of the Free Women’s Movement (TJA); Cemil Baydar, Co-chair of DEM Party in the district of Artemêt (Edremit); Peace Mothers’ Initiative members Sarya Süer, Hazal Süer and Münife Kaçak, and Adem Onat, Fazıl Numaş, Tahir Artim and Selma Cintan.
The reasons for their detention are still unknown while the detained people have been denied access to their lawyers for 24 hours following their detention.
