‘As Kurdish women, we owe leader Apo’

“We will struggle for the freedom of leader Apo and frustrate the conspiracy,” said Sureya Cuma, who sets her heart on the philosophy and struggle of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Qamishlo - Sureya Cuma, who lives in the city of Qamishlo, northeastern Syria, has known the ideology of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and the Kurdish Freedom Movement for about 40 years.

Sureya Cuma has been involved in the activities and actions of the Kurdish Freedom Movement since she set her heart on the philosophy and struggle of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Participating in all actions and protests held in Qamishlo against the isolation imposed on Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan, Sureya Cuma called on all women to struggle against the isolation.

‘He supports women’

“The efforts made by Abdullah Öcalan are sacred,” Sureya Cuma said, “Kurdish women have learned many things about themselves and improved themselves thanks to the ideology and philosophy of leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan). In the history of the Kurdish people, there have been many rebellions such as the Sheikh Said rebellion and Dersim rebellion; however, women's rights were not emphasized in these rebellions. In the cause started by leader Apo, women’s rights are essential. As women learned more about the ideology of leader Apo, they began to play a leading role in all spheres of life. Kurdish, Arab and Syriac women have gained confidence and power in Rojava thanks to the ideology and projects of leader Apo. Thanks to him, we, as women, have reached this stage by fighting the violence and slavery imposed on us. Before, women could not even mention their thoughts and made decisions about our own lives. After learning more about the ideology and philosophy of leader Apo, who always supports women, Kurdish women have taken part in all spheres of life and led their country. The ideology and projects of leader Apo have united people from all nations and religions in Rojava by bringing down the patriarch.”

‘We owe leader Apo’

Underling that the ideology and philosophy of Abdullah Öcalan have united everyone, who demand freedom, Sureya Cuma added, “Leader Apo has conquered hearts with his philosophy. We owe our leader and we will always owe him. An aggravated isolation has been imposed on leader Apo for about 24 years. No news has been received from him for 22 months. We will struggle for the freedom of leader Apo and frustrate the conspiracy.”
